Energy Rebate Programs Make LED Lights Affordable

While the capital outlay required to implement a state-of-the-art grow lighting system can be significant, numerous incentive, grant and rebate programs can make the bite a little easier to swallow.

For example, the USDA’s REAP (Rural Energy for America Program but you don’t have to be rural) program can provide grants of up to 25% of the cost of energy-efficient Illumitex grow lights and installation.

The U.S. Department of Energy offers Federal energy rebate programs, and Illumitex offers a free lighting energy audit.

In addition, many local entities offer rebates for switching to more energy-efficient lighting programs.

ComEd, for example, which serves Northern Illinois, has an annual incentives fund of about $80M to distribute to energy-conserving customers. The utility has a team of experts who will review customers’ building plans and make recommendations for the best lighting from an energy-savings perspective, according to the company.
